Can you create data visualizations? Are you looking for an opportunity to prove your data visualization skills while generating awareness about the state of long-term conservation of nature around the world?
For our new challenge, Data for a Cause have teamed up with UN Environment - World Conservation Monitoring Centre to run a challenge in the second half of May (May 17 - May 24) to support their Protected Planet project. This is a great opportunity to show your skills and put a serious project (what does UN stand for?) on your data visualization portfolio!
We have the most up to date, vetted and complete source of information on protected areas (national parks, conservation areas, marine reserves, etc.), updated just a few days ago, with submissions from governments, non-governmental organizations, landowners, and communities.
There are many interesting stories that are waiting to be told. So sign up to get access to the challenge details and explore the data set!
The best part? Not only a chance of earning the title of the winner of the challenge and getting recognition from UNEP-WCMC, but also helping to raise awareness about solutions to environmental problems that protected areas are offering.
May 17: the Data for a Cause challenge begins. Challenge participants are the first to find out about it.
May 24: Submission deadline. Gathering and analysis of data visualizations begins.
May 25: Review of the entries by GFW begins. Once the review is complete, the winners are announced.
This challenge is now complete. See the results here.
Sign up to join the next challenge, and see if you have what it takes to create the story of nature conservation around the world!
