In the spirit of Earth Month, Data for a Cause have teamed up with Global Forest Watch to run a challenge in the second half of April (April 20 - April 30).
Can you create data visualizations? This is your opportunity to show off your data visualization skills while generating awareness about the state of world's last intact forests, and deforestation trends.
The data set is the result of a comprehensive study by a team of research and environmental organizations (Greenpeace, World Resources Institute, University of Maryland and Transparent World). It is a very robust data set about world's intact forest landscapes extent and area reduction (deforestation).
Sign up to get access to the challenge details and explore the data set, and learn what intact forests really mean for our planet!
The best part? Not only earning the title of the winner of the competition and getting recognition from Global Forest Watch, but also helping to raise awareness about one of the most important environmental problems that our planet is currently facing.
April 20 GFW challenge begins. Challenge participants are the first to find out about it.
April 30 Submission deadline. Gathering and analysis of data visualizations begins.
May 1 Review of the entries by GFW begins. Once the review is complete, the winners are announced.
This challenge is now complete. See the results here.
Want to participate in the next challenge? Sign up to join the challenge, and see if you have what it takes to create the next winning data visualization.
