What is the best time to post a blog? When is the best time to roll out website updates? In other words, when does a website get most of its traffic, and when is the ‘low tide’?
This report is popular in social media analytics, yet Google Analytics does not provide it in standard reports. However, it is very easy to set up your own custom report to get this information.
Simply go to google.com/analytics, sign in, and select the Account and View that give access to the web property (your website) that you would like to analyze.
Click on Customization at the top of the screen. Click the Add New Custom Report button.
Give your report a distinctive title. Select type: Explorer.
Select Sessions as the metric, and Hour as the dimension. Click Save.
That's it! Your report is ready.
